Olde Good Things

When I moved to New York I didn’t know what the neighborhood I was moving into was really like. I live in Chelsea and knew I’d be on the West Side and that there was a lot of history here but I didn’t know what the people, stores, restaurants, and more would have in store for me. One day, while bead shopping at the open air market on 25th street I stopped into Olde Good Things on my way home and realized it was a local institution.

Right off the bat I noticed all their tin ceiling pieces, they make them into decorative wall art panels, mirrors, and probably  anything you’d want. Not only that but again, in keeping with my nautical life theme, they have fabulous tables made out of old anchor chains and colored glass electric lanterns like you’d see in an old ship. Sadly, when I went in to get another panel as a gift for a friend a few weeks ago they told me that they were having to move (It wasn’t said explicitly but it sounded recession-related). Hopefully they’ll find a new spot that’s selfishly still nearby – til then I can still shop online.
